The Arkansas Arts Center has just announced the winners in its 52nd annual Delta Exhibit (above, the 2004 winner, “Women of Juarez” by Sabrina Zarco), and we’ll start with the Arkansans who won prizes:
Delta Award winners: Kathy Bay of Sherwood, for “Txtrd Msg,” an acrylic collage on paper, and Kat Wilson of Fort Smith for digital print “Rudy, Arkansas.”
Honorable mentions: Sheila Cantrell of Batesville for pencil drawing “Pitchers and Pears”; Greer Farris of Fort Smith for wood sculpture “Epines Si Vous Plait”; and Dennis McCann of Maumelle for pastel “North Little Rock Neighborhood.”
Arkansans accepted: Ed Barham, Meredith Beau, Jane Colclasure, Ted Grimmett, Anne Haley, Steve Hollis, Andy Huss, Erin Lorenzen, Jason McCann, Liz Noble, Don Phillips, Dominique Simmons and Marjorie Williams-Smith, all of Little Rock; Latoya Hobbs, Callie Mott Matthews and Vicki Mott Matthews, all of North Little Rock; Mac Hornecker and Carey Roberson, both of Arkadelphia; Joe Bruhin, Fox; Don Lee, Ft. Smith; Joshua Miller, Benton; Katherine Monroe, Roland; Ed Pennebaker, Green Forest; Mary Shelton, Cabot; Zeek Taylor, Eureka Springs; Craig Allen Voligny, Fayetteville; and Steven Wise, Rogers.
The Grand Award went to Kyle Chaput of Corpus Christi, Texas, for his lithograph “Oso Bay Site 47.”
Fifty-one works were chosen in all. Don’t have images of the works yet; will post when I do. The show opens Jan. 29. Juror was Martha Tedeschi, curator of the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute of Chicago.
